Summer is in full swing, so if you haven’t been on vacation yet and/or are looking for a trip near Porto, here’s a suggestion that’s synonymous with refreshing dips and lots of fun – the Amarante Water Park.
Located less than an hour’s drive from Porto, the Amarante Water Park, considered the largest mountain park on the Iberian Peninsula, is open to the public until September 14. Shall we get to know this spot better?

Amarante Water Park’s main attractions
With a total area of 44,000 square meters, this spot is part of the Tamega Club, a tourist complex with everything you need for the summer. In 2024, the space was the target of an investment of around two million euros, so there are many attractions worth visiting.
Created in 1994, the Amarante Water Park stands out not only for its size, but also for its wide range of attractions that will please the whole family.

In all, it has 20 attractions, including seven swimming pools. But let’s now highlight some of its main attractions:
- Monster Lotus: 135-meter mega-slide with triple buoys
- Vertigo: equipment 15 meters high and 44 meters long, which challenges visitors to slide down a freefall
- Incredible pools, such as the Waterfall and Wave pools
- Foam Parties
- Space Hole: 65-meter slide with a kind of cauldron that will make you spin around
- Compact Slide: 94 meters long and perfect for speed fans
- Aquatube: an open tube over 95 meters long, among other options.

Other useful information
If you want to visit the Amarante Water Park, you should know that it is open every day from May 30 to September 14, from 10am to 7pm.
As far as tickets are concerned, according to the officialwebsite, it’s best to buy online, as the prices are always cheaper, albeit dynamic. Even so, here are some tips:
- Children up to the age of 3 get in free
- Children between the ages of 4 and 10 and seniors (over 65) pay from €9.95 (at the dynamic online ticket office)
- From 11 to 64 years old, the online ticket price starts at €15.50
