Porto’s gastronomy is a real treat… and it’s far from being limited to the famous francesinhas. In fact, there is another typical dish which has been gaining more and more prominence, namely the delicious Porto style ‘cachorrinhos’ (a kind of local version of hot dogs).
This snack is broken into pieces, and the toasted bread and sauce make all the difference. So you won’t find a delicacy like this just anywhere. On the one hand, if you’re from Porto, then (re)discover some of the best places. On the other hand, if you’re visiting, take note!

Anyone who likes ‘cachorrinhos‘ and is from Porto will be familiar with the Cervejaria Gazela. It’s in the battle and has already been recognized for having the best hot dogs in town. It’s definitely a place to visit! We’ve been and we recommend it 100%.
(It will be difficult to eat just one, we warn you!)

📍 Escada dos Guindais, 43
República dos Cachorros
We can’t talk about ‘cachorrinhos’ without mentioning the República dos Cachorros. It’s in Poveiros Square it’s right in the center of Porto, so it’s the ideal place to go for a snack and then stroll around the city.

Alma do Cachorro
Simple, no big tricks and always delicious. That’s the promise in the Alma do Cachorro, and how well it’s kept!
📍 Rua de Oliveira Monteiro, 178
The Dog – Casa dos Cachorros
If you’re near Boavista, then this is the place to go. Is your mouth watering? Try it because it will be worth it.

Frankie Hot Dogs
We say that this is an extra, because we’re not talking about ‘cachorrinhos’ like the ones you get in the restaurants above.
Here it’s in the classical “hot dog” format, but there are many creative options. That’s why we recommend giving it a try!
