After talking here about one of the biggest Christmas theme parks in the country – Perlim, in Santa Maria da Feira – now it’s time to take you on a ‘journey’ to the gates of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. The destination? The ‘Enchanted Forest’.
Where is the ‘Enchanted Forest’?
After being in danger of not happening, it seems that the 4th edition of the Christmas initiative will once again light up the Lagoas de Travanca area , in the parish of Cabana Maior, in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez, about 1h20 to 2 hours by car from Porto, depending on traffic conditions and the route chosen.
What can we expect from this year’s edition?
According to information provided by Rádio Vale do Minho, around 100,000 visitors are expected for this year’s edition, and the route will be in a new location and bigger than ever.
The newspaper O Minho, which quotes the president of the Cabana Maior Parish Council, Joaquim Campos, reports that the route will be increased from 400 to 1200 meters, with lots of activities expected for the youngsters.
When can I visit?
Surrounded by a space full of natural scenery, among a diversity of different plants and a riverside area with several waterfalls, the ‘Enchanted Forest’ lights switch-on is scheduled for December 1.
In addition, the initiative is expected to be open to the public until January 6, King’s Day, from 3pm to midnight.
