Serralves Park is one of Porto’s most emblematic spaces, and is the stage for several events that are already a ‘classic’ on the city’s cultural agenda, such as Serralves em Festa or Festa do Outono. In the case of the latter, it’s taking place this weekend, on September 28th and 29th.
As we bid farewell to the month and welcome the new season, this free initiative is aimed at kids and adults alike, offering a diverse program full of activities for all ages. There you’ll find workshops, concerts, contemporary circus, puppet shows, games and much more.
This year’s Festa do Outono also has a special feature, as it has joined the climate cause thanks to a partnership with BOIL – Climate Festival. In this context, the initiative’s program includes art installations and a film series on this theme.
Highlights of the Autumn Festival
Throughout Serralves Park, but particularly in the Prado, you’ll find a wide variety of fall products, such as chestnuts, corn and straw bales, which children like to dive into. However, now it’s time to take a closer look at some of the highlights of the program.
Workshops
Children and adults can try out various workshops focused on different areas: toys, weaving and lacemaking, embroidery, science, painting, recycling, among others.
Concerts
Of course, there’s always room for music at Serralves. And these are some of the concerts scheduled:
- Saturday, September 28: Samba com Fronteiras with Luca Angel (15:00); Ana Lua Caiado (17:15);
- Sunday, September 29: Sound in the Park with the Portuguese Symphonic Band (11h30); Branco Toca Marco Paulo (18h00).
Contemporary Circus
For circus fans, these are two of the highlights:
- Carmim-Coração nas Mãos (Saturday, at 6.15 p.m., in the Maria Nordman Garden)
- Back2Classics (Saturday, at 4pm; and Sunday, at 12.30pm and 5pm, in the Prado).
There are also puppet shows, exhibitions, field trips and a film series dedicated to the environment. However, if you want to see the full program, you can do so here.
