There are few Portuguese snacks that arouse such passion as the francesinhas. So it’s no wonder that there are more and more gastronomic festivals dedicated to this delicacy. From September 13 to 22, there’s a Francesinhas event right next door, in Maia.
Around here, you’ll find francesinhas in various ‘shapes and forms’, whether cooked in their most traditional form, in a wood-fired oven, with a lid, without a lid, or even a version vegan. After the Francesinhas Festival has been to various parts of the country, it’s now Maia’s turn.
Set up in the Maya Central Park, on Rua Simão Bolívar, the Francesinhas Festival is free to enter, so you only pay for what you consume. And these are some of the specialized restaurants that will be there:
- Cufra
- Alicantina
- Alfândega Douro
- Santa Francesinha
For those who don’t like this famous dish, there are other options, such as kebab, suckling pig and sushi.
