If you like to escape conventional tourism, there are authentic open-air museums, filled with works of art, stories, and secrets waiting to be uncovered. The good news? The 16th Cultural Cycle of Porto’s Cemeteries returns for another free edition to showcase a different side of the city, with a total of ten guided tours between May and September.
Organized by the Porto City Council, the initiative kicks off on May 9 at the Prado do Repouso Cemetery. Opened in 1839, Porto’s first public cemetery is the first stop on this series of themed guided tours. But it’s not the only one, as the Agramonte Cemetery (1855) is also included in the Cultural Cycle.
