Japanese pop culture captivates kids and adults alike. From anime to manga, not to mention cosplay contests, after Santarém, Iberanime returns to Exponor, in the municipality of Matosinhos, to entertain audiences of all ages in Greater Porto (and beyond) on October 11 and 12.
With a diverse program, the event is preparing for two days full of entertainment. There, you can take part in themed workshops, attend exclusive concerts and performances, as well as immerse yourself in the world of retrogaming and board games.
What’s so special about Iberanime 2025?
More than 34,000 visitors passed through Santarém, so expectations for the edition at Exponor are high. With the doors scheduled to open at 10am, it’s important to know some of the main highlights in order to better organize your experience.
As in previous editions, Iberanime Porto 2025 will feature music with the participation of Kota Shinzato (Japanese singer and actor), known for voicing “Hands Up!”, the opening theme of the famous anime “One Piece”.
In addition, the musical line-up includes Spill The Tea, which combines cosplay and music; and the group Gaijin Sentai, which mixes oriental musical influences with rock and metal. The Iberanime Orchestra will also entertain the audience with an exclusive performance.
From mental health to cosplay
However, music isn’t the only attraction at Iberanime Porto 2025. There, you’ll find different areas and activities. Some are obvious, others not so much. For example, IA|PLUS includes the Anime Sports Area and the Mental Health and Wellness Space.
The traditional (and popular) cosplay competitions will once again ‘invade’ Exponor, with the Portuguese stages of the World Cosplay Summit and Cosplay World Masters standing out.
For a complete immersion in Japanese pop culture, the program includes karaoke and dance floor sessions , the Japan Arcade Experience (an immersive retrogaming and arcade area) and an area for children (with inflatables, face painting and games).
And what’s the big news?
This year Iberanime has a great new feature: the event’s officialapp. Available on the App Store and Google Play, there you can find this and other information about the event, including the full program, a map of the venue and more.
