The inauguration of the Christmas lights in Porto promises to be an amazing moment. However, on the outskirts of the city there are other Christmas events to put on the agenda, such as Gaia Vila Natal or the official start of the Maia Natal 2025 program.
According to a statement sent to Porto Secreto, the kick-off for the festive season in the neighboring municipality is scheduled for November 28 (Friday), at 6:30 p.m., and will continue until January 4, 2026. In addition, some information about New Year’s Eve has already been revealed.

Maia Christmas 2025

With a program aimed at kids and adults alike, Praça Dr. José Vieira de Carvalho will be the epicentre of the Maia Natal 2025 celebrations.
There, with free access, the main Christmas attractions will be installed, such as the traditional Christmas Tree, the Ice Rink, the Carousel, the Mini Wheel and the Christmas Market, with gastronomic flavors and handicrafts.
Music is also high on the agenda, with live concerts scheduled for every weekend and national holiday , between November 29 and December 21, at 3pm, in different locations in Maia.
Christmas Parade in Maia

To welcome the ‘White-bearded Old Man’, Maia Natal 2025 has prepared a Christmas Parade, on November 7, at 17:30.
Departing from Avenida Visconde de Barreiros (Venepor), Santa and his friends will parade to Praça do Município, where Santa’s House is located.

If you’re looking for original gifts, the Mercadinho de Natal is a destination to consider. But it’s important to know the timetable:
- Monday to Thursday, from 5pm to 10pm
- Fridays, from 4pm to midnight
- Saturdays, from 3pm to midnight
- Sundays and public holidays, from 3pm to 10pm
- Closed on December 25th
- Special opening hours on December 24, 31 and January 1

These attractions are synonymous with pure fun, promising lots of laughs and good times. So here are their opening hours:

In addition to the Christmas program, Maia City Council has already announced some of the news about New Year’s Eve.
For the last night of 2025, two figures from Maia have been chosen to entertain the public: Miguel Araújo (in concert) and Carolina Torres (with DJ Set).
