Porto’s cultural calendar is in full swing, and countless global stars have decided to include the city in their tours. One of the latest announcements is Morrissey’s concert at the Super Bock Arena on August 1.
At 66, Steven Patrick Morrissey needs no introduction, having been one of the most melancholic and charismatic voices in British rock in the 1980s, thanks to his career with The Smiths. The band became known for hits such as “How Soon Is Now,” “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out,” and “This Charming Man,” among others.
However, Morrissey is not coming to Porto to revisit The Smiths. The “poet of despair,” as he is known, brings his new album “Make-up Is a Lie” to Porto , promising an emotional reunion with the Portuguese audience.

A (long) awaited return

Morrissey last performed in Portugal in 2014 at the Coliseu dos Recreios (Lisbon), making this a long-awaited return for his fans.
As previously mentioned, the Lancashire-born singer and songwriter will present his latest album of original material, “Make-up Is a Lie,” his first in six years.
“Music should be the ultimate democracy, without limitations, and the best of it isn’t easily categorized. I love my place within music and always try to say things in a different way, ”Morrissey says about his new album, as quoted in a press release.
Widely recognized for his work with The Smiths, Morrissey’s solo career is also filled with iconic songs, such as“Everyday Is Like Sunday,” “Irish Blood, English Heart,” and “Suedehead,” among others.
How can I get tickets?
