Get your makeup ready and sharpen your claws, because one of Broadway’s biggest hits is about to land in Portugal. Almost three years after its last visit to Portugal, “Cats”, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s timeless work, returns for a short (but intense) stop in Lisbon and Porto.
Mark your calendars

This will be the fifth performance of “Cats” in Portugal, after sold-out sessions in previous years. If you’re in the mood to (re)see the famous musical, these are the dates not to be missed:
- Lisbon: Sagres Campo Pequeno, from January 6 to 11
- Porto: Super Bock Arena (Pavilhão Rosa Mota), from January 14th to 18th
What makes “Cats” so special?
Inspired by the book by T.S. Eliot (Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats), the musical is the perfect fusion of music, dance and poetry, winning over fans since its premiere in 1981 in London.
For its run in Portugal, the songs will originally be sung in English, but will have Portuguese subtitles.
A hit of seven lifetimes

They say that cats have seven lives, so just like the animal that gives it its name, the musical seems to ‘breathe’ the same essence.
In fact, the show’s landmarks are just as impressive as its choreography, so we’d like to highlight a few of the numbers:
- “Cats” has already toured more than 54 countries
- It has been translated into 23 languages
- It has been seen by more than 77 million people worldwide
Tickets for the musical, which is coming to Portugal via UAU Produtora, cost between €35 and €65 and are on sale online and at the usual venues.
