Slides and waterfalls, the attractions and possibilities for fun are many at water parks. In fact, this can be an excellent alternative for those who want to make the most of the summer but prefer to stay away from the beaches.
Most of these water parks are about an hour away from Porto. So you can take advantage of this for a short weekend getaway, or take a dip on your vacation.

If you’re one of those who prefers to avoid the sand, or are simply looking for a different plan to enjoy with the family, here are some suggestions located in the north of Portugal.
Amarante Water Park
Located about an hour from Porto, this is considered to be the largest mountain water park on the Iberian Peninsula. It’s a place that promises to delight everyone, especially the youngest.
Its list of attractions includes, for example, the “Fast Mountain” slide, 180 meters long and 22 meters high.
If you want to stay longer than a day, you can take advantage of the various accommodation options in Aldeia do Tâmega. A great place to escape the summer heat.

Magikland, in Penafiel
This is the closest park to Invicta, which is less than an hour away. Located in the municipality of Penafiel, Magikland is actually a theme park that combines leisure attractions with some aquatic equipment.
At Magikland there are several spaces, such as the “Medieval Village” or the “Pirates’ Refuge”, the latter of which is suitable for refreshing swims.

Fafe Water Park
Located about 45 minutes’ drive from Porto, the Fafe Water Park is another option for those looking for a fun-filled and, above all, refreshing destination.
The space has four swimming pools and 17 slides, for those who love to feel like a ‘fish in water’.
There are also rest areas, bars, restaurants and the chance to enjoy animal shows, such as birds of prey and reptiles.

Naturwaterpark – Douro Amusement Park
In the interior of Portugal, in addition to its enchanting river beaches, there is also a water park that is an excellent alternative for refreshing your summer days – the Naturwaterpark, in Vila Real. This is a popular place during the warmer season.
