What’s the best metropolitan destination by the sea? Porto, of course!

Portugal is increasingly becoming an internationally renowned tourist destination. So it’s no surprise that it shone at the European gala of the World Travel Awards (WTA), which took place this Wednesday, March 6, in Berlin (Germany).

Portugal’s ‘luggage’ brought with it some weighty distinctions. For example, Madeira was voted the best island destination in Europe for the tenth time and Porto Santo was considered the best beach destination. But, of course, our city of Invicta wasn’t left out of the awards either.

In the list of European winners, available for consultation here porto was voted the best metropolitan seaside destination. Lisbon, on the other hand, won the title of best urban destination Braga, the beautiful capital of Minho, was considered the best emerging destination. 

In addition, in the category of tourist attractions and projects, Portugal also received several awards. For example, the spectacular Paiva Walkways (best adventure tourist attraction), or the Dark Sky Alqueva (with the distinction of best tourist attraction and best responsible tourism project).
