There are two in Vila Nova de Gaia, and the rest are in Santo Tirso, Penafiel, Marco de Canaveses, and Felgueiras. There are still none within the city of Porto itself.

It was south of the Douro that Action made its debut in Portugal. The Dutch chain, founded in 1993, opened its first store in the country on February 29, 2024, at Focus Park in Vila Nova de Gaia, according to Echo Boomer. Since then, it hasn’t slowed down: by August, it already had 34 stores in Portugal, according to Jornal Económico, with six located in the Porto district. In the municipality of Porto, however, it has not yet opened any stores.

What’s for sale at Action

Each store carries nearly 6,000 items across 14 categories, including home, technology, garden, cleaning, hygiene, toys, and pet products. The chain guarantees that it always has 1,500 items priced under 1 €, according to Action’s website, and that the average price is below 2 €, as reported by Portugal Global.
