What is Roman Braga?
Before we share some of the main highlights of the re-enactment, how about a brief look at Roman Braga itself?
Organized for 21 years, this event exalts the historical importance of Bracara Augusta, which in Roman times was the capital of the province of Gallaecia, founded by Emperor Augustus between 15 and 13 BC.
Nowadays, this past is rigorously celebrated in an annual initiative , with no shortage of typical costumes, arts, traditions and gastronomy that marked the ancient Roman Empire.

What can we expect from Braga Romana 2025?
As in previous years, the capital of Minho promises to celebrate with all the pomp that the occasion deserves, including more than 160 performances on six stages: Praça Municipal, Rossio da Sé, Largo do Pópulo, Largo S. João do Souto, Largo de Santiago and Largo D. João Peculiar.
The program also includes 13 scenic areas, including the market with various weaving products, jewelry, stonework, metals, pottery and leather, as well as the restaurant area with dishes, snacks and drinks. Once again, key moments such as:
- Founding Rite of Bracara Augusta (May 22, 10pm)
- Roman Baptism (May 24, 4pm)
- Roman Wedding (May 25, 5pm)
- Roman Funeral (May 25, 9:30pm), among others.

Artificial intelligence, circus and more
One of the novelties of the 21st edition of Braga Romana is a digital installation with artificial intelligence. “Legado de Bracara: Os Legionários” will be on Largo D. João Peculiar, where each visitor can be projected as an authentic Roman.
The Circus Maximus also deserves a special mention, as it is one of the favorite attractions for families, as well as exhibitions and other cultural activities, in a vast and diverse program.

How to get there from Porto?
Located about 55 km from Porto, Braga is not only one of the most beautiful cities to visit near Invicta, but also a destination to consider for those who love time travel.
To immerse yourself in Roman Braga, you can opt for transport such as the train, with frequent departures from Porto-Campanhã and São Bento stations.
However, if you prefer to travel by car, we recommend the A3, which can take between 34 and 40 minutes. However, remember that several traffic and parking restrictions will be in place during the event, so avoid leaving your car in the historic center.
