Looking for something different to do this Christmas? There are plenty of activities waiting for you in Porto. However, if you prefer to visit other places, we suggest another stop in Alto Minho.
After the Enchanted Forest at the gates of Gerês, there is now a new instagrammable destination in Caminha: Camarilandia.
Located less than 1h30 by car from Porto, in the heart of the Camarido National Forest, this is the first edition of Camarilandia, an initiative aimed at kids and adults alike. Here, the glow of the illuminations and the magic typical of the season provide an immersive experience in the Christmas spirit with several trees full of decorations and attractions.
What will you find here?

Planted by King Dinis, Caminha’s pine forest is one of the favorite summer destinations for many locals and inhabitants of northern Portugal. After all, this area is home to the famous beaches of Moledo and Foz do Minho. And this scenery now serves as the backdrop for the premiere of the latest Christmas ‘enchanted forest’.

In all, the illuminated route is about half a kilometer long and has several surprises in store, such as:
- Ateliers
- Fairy Village
- Mother Christmas Camp
- Santa’s House – arrival on December 14 at 6:30 p.m.
Further information

If you want to visit the Camarilandia ‘enchanted forest’, you should know that the initiative runs until December 21, between 5pm and 10pm. However, one question arises: how do you get to this instagrammable destination?
The distance between Porto and Caminha is approximately one hundred kilometers, and you can travel by car, train or bus. However, one of the quickest ways is to travel in your own car, as it allows for greater time flexibility.

Therefore, the most common route is to take the A28 (towards Viana do Castelo/Caminha) to the end and continue on the EN13 to Caminha/Moledo, following the signs “Mata do Camarido” or “Foz do Minho”.
Alternatively, if you prefer to travel by train, we recommend that you check the timetables very carefully on the CP – Comboios de Portugalwebsite to ensure that there are return journeys on the same day.

You can leave from Porto on the Minho Line, and the journey should take between 1h30 and 1h55, depending on the service. However, once you’re there, you’ll have to walk or take a cab to Mata do Camarido (a journey of two to three kilometers).
