Coliseu Porto Ageas and the Porto City Council are launching Primeira Box, a new music series dedicated to the city’s emerging bands and artists. The program kicks off on July 6 at Coliseu Box, the new mid-sized venue that opened this year, curated by musician, DJ, and producer João Vieira (DJ Kitten / X-Wife).
A treasure trove of surprises now in its third year
Primeira Box stems from the new possibilities for capacity and immersion brought about by the opening of Coliseu Box. Together, the Coliseu and the City have prepared a program that responds to the desire to bring musical projects—still off the radar but deserving of being heard by new audiences—to Porto’s main stage.
With a capacity of 500 seats—an intimate setting, a far cry from the 4,000 seats in the Main Hall—the Coliseu Box will allow selected musical projects to take advantage of the Coliseu’s large stage over the course of three years. Each night will feature three concerts by three different artists, exploring a variety of musical styles.

Who’s taking the stage on July 6
Astra Vaga is Pedro Ledo’s new project. Born from the tension between a life devoted to art and the weight of the corporate world, it blends ethereal dream pop with the raw pulse of post-punk: distorted guitars, enveloping synthesizers, and hypnotic basslines intertwine with emotionally charged Portuguese lyrics.
Calcutá is the sonic territory of Teresa Castro, a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and sound artist based in Porto. Trained as a classical guitarist, she weaves together folk, drone, ambient, and experimental music. Her debut album, “Soon After Dawn, ” released in the same week in January that Coliseu Box opened, was widely acclaimed by critics.
EVAYA is a singer, songwriter, music producer, and visual artist, with an art-pop universe marked by intimate songwriting. After appearances at NOS Alive, Tallinn Music Week, and a tour in Brazil—and following her participation in the 2026 Song Festival—she will perform her debut album *Abaixo Das Raízes Deste Jardim* (2024), released by Saliva Diva, live.

The lineup of artists is curated by João Vieira, a musician, composer, DJ, and producer who, as DJ Kitten and based in Porto, has redefined the clubbing scene in Portugal with his Club Kitten. He has released 10 albums: five as a solo artist under the aliases White Haus and Wolf Manhattan, and five with the band X-Wife, which he founded.

Opened in January 2026, Coliseu Box is the new medium-sized performance venue located within the Coliseu Porto Ageas—an innovative solution with a capacity for events of up to approximately 500 seated or 800 standing attendees, allowing for intimate performances that make full use of the large stage. With the Coliseu Box, the Coliseu reinforces its position as one of the most versatile and adaptable venues on the national and international scene, and fills the need for medium-sized venues in the city of Porto.
