The opening of the Christmas season in Porto is officially scheduled for November 29, with a program full of activities for everyone. However, this isn’t the only initiative to keep on your radar for the festive season, as there’s something new literally coming down the tracks: the return of the historic Christmas Tram.
From December 3 until January 6, 2026, days in Porto are synonymous with a themed trip aboard the famous vehicle. More specifically, the trips take place:
- On line 1 (Infante – Passeio Alegre), on weekdays
- And on line 18 (Clérigos – Passeio Alegre), at weekends
An “Around the table” edition

According to a statement from Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos do Porto (STCP) sent to Porto Secreto, the theme of the 2025 edition is “Around the table”. How did the idea come about?
The concept was born out of a dialog between the Electric Car Museum and the community, inspired by the changes that the future Ferreirinha Bridge will bring to the Massarelos area. From these conversations and reflections came the motto for the 2025 theme,” reads the press release.
In this context, the artistic concept was developed in close collaboration with Dutch artist Eva Halfers, transforming the Christmas Tram into a visual representation of the tables and memories that bring typical Portuguese houses to life.
Christmas Tram program

To celebrate the most magical time of the year in the best possible way, the Electric Car Museum has prepared a series of special activities:
- Santa’s ride – the world’s most famous white-bearded old man will ride the Tram accompanied by four musicians, between the Clérigos and Cordoaria stops (on December 6 to 18, 13 and 14, 20 and 21, and 23, at 2:45 p.m., on line 18).
- Building Wishes – postcards on board, on which passengers can write their deepest wishes (on December 3, 4, 9, 15, 16 and 17, on journeys between 3pm and 6pm, on line 1)
- A Special Passenger – trips on board with a surprise guest and an animated theater (on December 2, 22 and 23, 29 and 30), and January 6, on line 1; on December 28, on line 18; between 3pm and 6pm).
