After Benfica and Sporting’s opponents for the Champions League were revealed , this Friday (August 29) the spotlight falls on UEFA’s second most important competition – the Europa League. The draw, which took place in Monaco, dictated the opponents of the Portuguese representatives: FC Porto and SC Braga.
From the outset, it’s important to note that the ‘dragons’ and the ‘minhotos ‘ will face some opponents in common, namely: Rangers (Scotland), Nice (France) and Nottingham Forest (United Kingdom, coached by Nuno Espírito Santo, former ‘helmsman’ of the blue and whites).

FC Porto in the Europa League
- Pot 1: Rangers (home) and Salzburg (away)
- Pot 2: Red Star (home) and Viktoria Plzen (away)
- Pot 3 Nice (home) and Nottingham Forest (away)
- Pot 4: Malmö (home) and Utrecht (away)
SC Braga in the Europa League
- Pot 1: Feyenoord (home) and Rangers (away)
- Pot 2: Red Star (home) and Celtic (away)
- Pot 3: Nottingham Forest (away) and Nice (home)
- Pot 4: Genk (home) and Go Ahead Eagles (away)

Other useful information
The Europa League is UEFA’s second most important competition, so the two Portuguese clubs (FC Porto and SC Braga) will earn 4.31 million euros from participating in the competition alone.
In addition, in monetary terms, each win is worth 0.45 million euros and a draw is worth 0.15 million euros. In the case of qualification for the last 16, each team can earn an extra 1.75 million euros.
