So, if you like to get up close and personal with the most beautiful astronomical phenomena, here’s some news: the Harvest Supermoon is getting ready to shine over Porto.
When? In the early hours of October 7 (Tuesday), the skies over Porto and Portugal promise a unique spectacle. After 11 months, this will be the first Supermoon of 2025, which makes it an even more desirable moment for photographers and astronomy enthusiasts . The lunar satellite will appear larger and brighter, reaching its peak at 4:48 a.m. on October 7.

The Harvest Moon
The Harvest Moon usually occurs closer to the fall equinox . This year, however, it will be the latest since 1987 – a curiosity that gives this year’s Supermoon a special character.
But what is the origin of its name? Known as theHarvest Moon, it is also called theCorn Moon.
In both cases, these names are associated with the harvest time of the main crops, such as pumpkin, beans, corn and wild rice.
