There’s a new destination for those with a sweet tooth in the Boavista area. After Lisbon, Maria Croissant has opened its first store in Porto, at the Bom Sucesso Market on Level 0, next to Continente, marking the brand’s debut in the north. There, you’ll find a variety of options for breakfast and snacks.
With an area of 30 m² and an outdoor terrace with seating for 20, the space’s decor features pastel shades of pink and blue, inspired by palatial details that explain the name given to the shops: “royal chambers.”
Sweet and savory croissants, made in Portugal
A Maria Croissant draws on the history of the croissant—which originated in Vienna and gained fame in France thanks to Marie Antoinette—and combines it with Portuguese pastry-making. The brand states that the croissants are made by Portuguese hands and that their texture combines a crispy exterior with a light interior.
The menu offers both sweet and savory options. Among the classics are the plain croissant, the mixed croissant, and the hazelnut cream croissant. The more daring combinations include apple and cinnamon, Ferrero Rocher, and pumpkin jam with cream cheese.
From Lisbon to Porto
Until now, the brand had five stores in the Greater Lisbon area: at Oeiras Parque, Praça de Londres, Centro Colombo, Amoreiras Shopping Center, and UBBO Shopping Resort. It also has a store at Almada Fórum. The opening in Porto, announced on October 16, 2026, is the brand’s first outside this region.
