Metrobus do Porto, a hydrogen-powered bus system, is a project that aims to ‘revolutionize’ mobility in the city of Porto, but it has experienced some delays. Initially, plans called for operations to begin in September 2024.
However, delays related to the delivery of the vehicles and safety issues prevented the program from being fulfilled. However, it seems that there is news regarding the new date for the start of circulation.
According to the Público newspaper, which quotes Metro do Porto, by the end of May the transport company expects to have all the buses needed to run the connection between Casa da Música, on Avenida da Boavista, and Praça do Império, a total journey that should take 12 minutes.
In this context, it is expected that the Porto Metrobus will be operational by the end of June. It should be noted that this is only the first phase of the project, and the construction of the second phase of the line, between Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa and the Rotunda da Anémona, in Matosinhos, is expected later.
