The North Festival, a music event in Porto, was due to take place this year at the Estádio do Bessa Século XXI, between May 23 and 25. However, the organization recently announced the cancellation of the event planned for this venue and dates.
However, one of the projects that was confirmed for the festival will have a show in its own name, namely “Cantar Morangos com Açúcar – 20 anos”, which will take to the Super Bock Arena on May 31st.
The cancellation of the North Festival
The cancellation of the 7th edition at Estádio do Bessa was announced on Friday, February 14, on the festival’s official social networks, with the organization giving the following justification:
The cancellation is due to internal problems related to the authorization of the transfer of the venue, as well as the scheduling of the I Liga Playoff/Liguillha for the same weekend as the festival, making it impossible to hold the event as planned and contracted,” reads an Instagram post.
“Singing Strawberries with Sugar” at the Super Bock Arena
In recent years, the festival has been held at Alfândega do Porto on four occasions and in 2024 at Serralves Park. This year, the aim was to make the leap to a sports stadium, but this was not possible.
However, as mentioned above, the organization has already confirmed the presence of the Portuguese project “Cantar Morangos com Açúcar – 20 anos”, on May 31, at the Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota.
Refund requests
On their official Instagram account, the North Festival organizers shared some information for those who want a refund:
From February 24 until March 17 we will issue refunds to those who wish to return.”
