In Germany, more specifically in Bavaria, the ‘devotion’ to beer has turned the month of October into a real pilgrimage and cause for celebration, which has become popular all over the world. Nor is Porto indifferent to this German tradition with the Oktoberfest at the Bom Sucesso Market.
For six days, between September 23 and 28, the iconic Porto market promises to become the epicenter for all beer fans. According to a statement sent to Porto Secreto, the kick-off will be given in a symbolic way with the opening of a wooden barrel.
However, on the very first day, September 23rd, the reasons to visit Oktoberfest aren’t just about the booze. Between 6pm and 10pm, a group of traditional German musicians will echo some typical sounds, making everyone feel like they’re in the middle of Bavaria, without leaving Invicta. But the musical entertainment doesn’t stop there.

Drinking and eating the German way
The Oktoberfest at Mercado do Bom Sucesso will feature several beer sales points, with two varieties in particular: Erdinger Oktoberfest and Erdinger Brauhaus Helles. The beers will be served in traditional half-liter ceramic mugs, for a deposit.
However, an event isn’t just about drinking. That’s why, in order to bring Porto’ s palate closer to German flavors, the shopkeepers at the Bom Sucesso Market have prepared some delicacies, such as:
- Roast pork knuckle
- Pretzels
- Schnitzels
- Sausages
- And the essential strudel
