From now on, traveling on board the Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos do Porto (STCP) is easier than ever. What does this mean? Forget the endless search for coins in your wallet or counting your change, as a new payment method is now available: the use of bank cards throughout the fleet.
In a statement sent to Porto Secreto, STCP informs that this new measure comes into force this Monday, January 26, with all vehicles now equipped with a POS terminal next to the driver.
This means that it is now possible to pay for tickets (€2.50) using a bank card, cell phone, or smartwatch via contactless payment. However, it is important to note that this new payment method does not replace existing tickets.

Who can use it?
All passengers without an Andante monthly pass can now take advantage of this new measure, which serves as an alternative to traditional cash payment methods.
What are the advantages?
According to the press release, STCP’s goal is to speed up boarding by reducing waiting times, as well as ensuring greater safety for passengers by providing a payment method that does not require the use of physical cash.
With this new measure, STCP is taking another step towards modernizing and digitizing its ticketing system, with a view to making mobility more fluid and inclusive. If you’re one of those people who never has ‘change,’ now there are fewer excuses for missing the next bus.
