
The city has several projects underway, one of which is the conversion of the old Porto Industrial Slaughterhouse. Although this infrastructure is not yet complete, there are new developments, including the completion of the pedestrian connection to the Estádio do Dragão metro station.
In a press release, Porto City Council (CMP) said that the new metal structure under the Via de Cintura Interna (VCI):
It has a dimension of 6mx48m and an approximate weight of 78 tons.“


At the moment, the passage is not open to the public. However, in the future, it will allow greater accessibility to the Estádio do Dragão, promoting not only pedestrian circuits, but also better coordination with the various services available there, namely:
- Porto Metro Station
- Alameda Shopping, one of the city’s largest shopping centers
The former Porto Industrial Slaughterhouse has been deactivated for around 20 years, and the conversion work is being carried out by Japanese architect Kengo Kunga, in partnership with the Porto studio OODA.
