March 21 marks World Poetry Day. To celebrate this special occasion for all lovers of the written word, we decided to write a poem. Yes, you read that right! For a change, this time we’re not going to treat you to a list or a news article, but rather a poem. And since Porto is our greatest inspiration, it makes perfect sense for us to pay this small but simple tribute.
Poem “Porto”
From Ribeira to Foz, without forgetting the Cathedral
In the city where the river dominates the landscape
I want to walk every street and alley on foot
To pay it the tribute it deserves.
The boats and the Douro catch the eye
Just like the bridges, the houses, and the colors
Fill the eyes of the many tourists
And with pride, all its loves.
Like the river that flows to the sea
The soul of Porto can be felt in Bolhão,
In its people and their unique way of speaking,
Or in the rabelos of our hearts
That remind us of another time
Of the city that is Unconquered and loyal
Where every return is a feeling
And the desire to stay forever is real
Shrouded in mystery, light, and mist,
Of stories and songs with a local accent
This is my Porto of adrenaline
Where every beat is a cry of protest….
Of the love I feel for this city,
My eternal Porto, my haven
Which I admire without reservation
On every bank of the friendly Douro!
