The fact that each of these beaches has a Blue Flag means that the excellence of water quality, safety, and environmental management of the waterfront has been verified.
And what about “Gold Quality”?
In turn, the “Gold Quality” certification attests to the consistent excellence of the water quality over the course of five bathing seasons. In this context, of the nine beaches mentioned above, only Aquário does not hold this distinction, as it only began receiving Blue Flag certification in 2022.

In addition to the Blue Flag and “Gold Quality ” awards, the municipality of Porto also has two beaches classified as “Accessible Beaches,” namely Praia do Homem do Leme and Praia do Carneiro; both received this distinction for ensuring access for people with limited mobility.
