Porto is one of those few cities that can “boast” of enjoying a freshwater paradise like the Douro River while also being blessed by the power of the Atlantic Ocean. So, with the beach season fast approaching, it’s time to check out which beaches in Porto have been awarded the Blue Flag and “Gold Quality” certifications.
9 Blue Flag beaches

If you’re already missing sipping a glass of fino by the seaor lying on the sand until sunset, pay attention—these are the nine beaches in the municipality of Portothat have been awarded the Blue Flag:
- Pastoras
- Carneiro
- Ourigo
- Ingleses
- Luz
- Gondarém
- Molhe
- Homem do Leme

And what about “Gold Quality”?
In turn, the “Gold Quality” certification attests to the consistent excellence of the water quality over the course of five bathing seasons. In this context, of the nine beaches mentioned above, only Aquário does not hold this distinction, as it only began receiving Blue Flag certification in 2022.
