With the arrival of the new year, it ‘s not all about price rises for essential goods (and more). At the local level in particular, the municipality of Porto will be hosting various events, even after the Christmas period. In addition, there are other innovations in terms of infrastructure, such as the reopening of the Cartes Municipal Swimming Pool.
Located in the Campanhã area, which has been given a new lease of life, the Cartes Municipal Swimming Pool had been closed since December 2 for conservation and maintenance work. Although the intervention was initially scheduled to end on January 12, 2026, the speed of the work has allowed it to reopen this Monday, January 5.

During this period [of closure], work was carried out to replace the metal structures of the technical gallery, next to the pool tank, which were damaged,” reads the Porto City Council website.
As an alternative to the Cartes Municipal Swimming Pool, during the closure period users were able to make use of the other municipal swimming pools, such as the Constituição and Eng. Armando Pimentel.
