A bathing season in Porto officially kicks off on June 15 and the list of candidates has already been released blue Flag beaches in the municipality. However, if you want to take a dip before then, it ‘s already possible to do so in an incredible saltwater pool.
The Piscina das Marés opened its doors to the public on June 1st and will remain open until September 15th, every day from 9:00 to 19:00. This is good news for holidaymakers, who can start spreading out their towels in the sun.
For those who don’t know it yet, this swimming pool was built facing the sea, in Leça da Palmeira, in the municipality of Matosinhos. As well as being one of the region’s main summer attractions, it has also been a National Monument since 2011.

How to get there?
However, for the time being, the aim is to inform holidaymakers about prices and other information. To begin with, anyone from Porto knows that it’s easy to get to this saltwater pool by car in less than 30 minutes.
However, public transport is also an option, particularly through the STCP services. On the carrier’s official website you’ll find more information however, we can already tell you that line 507 will take you from Porto to Piscina das Marés.
What are the prices and where can I buy the tickets?
Take our advice, if you want to avoid long queues, then the best thing to do is go early. You can also buy tickets online: here.
During the week, these are the prices for adults: 8€ (full day) and 5€ (half day); for children: €5.50 (full day) and €3.50 (half day).
As for weekends and public holidays the prices go up, with adults paying €10 (full day) and €6 (half day) and children €6 (full day= and €4 (half day).
