Starting June 15, FlixBus is expanding its presence in the interior of the country with a new route connecting Covilhã to Porto, with stops in Campanhã and at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, as well as in Viseu. These are three new routes for the operator, bringing “Cidade Neve” closer to two of the North’s major urban centers.
In practice, this means it is now possible to travel from Porto to Covilhã without changing buses in just over three and a half hours. Those departing from Viseu have an even faster journey: the trip to Covilhã takes less than two hours.
The new route was designed with two types of passengers in mind: the more than 10,000 domestic and international students attending the University of Beira Interior, and the thousands of tourists who visit the Serra da Estrela Natural Park every year. In addition to Porto and Viseu, the line also provides connections to Guarda and Albergaria-a-Velha, strengthening the transportation network between Beira Interior and the Porto Metropolitan Area.
Schedules and prices
For now, there are four daily departures available, two in each direction:
• Covilhã → Porto: departures at 10:55 a.m. and 8:50 p.m., from the Covilhã Bus Terminal
• Porto → Covilhã: departs at 6:20 a.m. from the Campanhã Intermodal Terminal, and at 3:30 p.m. from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, passing through Campanhã at 3:55 p.m.
Tickets are now available for purchase on the FlixBus app and website, at Pagaqui sales points, and at partner travel agencies. Prices start at €4.99 for the Porto–Covilhã route and €3.99 for the Viseu–Covilhã route.
