Can you imagine more than 50 hours of non-stop activities? From May 29 to 31, Serralves Park, one of Porto’s most beautiful green spaces, once again opens its doors to celebrate the best of contemporary art completely free of charge, with the 20th edition of Serralves em Festa.
In all, some 650 artists from 34 countries promise to deliver unforgettable moments with a program packed with music, dance, exhibitions, street theater, guided tours, workshops, contemporary circus, and more.
Parade in downtown Porto
This year, Serralves em Festa introduces a new feature: the “Caravanserá” parade —by Brazilian choreographer Gustavo Ciríaco, featuring 80 performers and winding through the streets of downtown Porto on May 28.
The parade, which serves as a “warm-up” for Serralves em Festa, will also bring together theCosta Cabral Academy, the Music Academy, the Design Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto, and the Instável Choreographic Center.
Mão Morta and other musical highlights
If there’s one thing Serralves em Festa never lacks, it’s good music, so get ready to catch a few concerts, featuring both national and international artists.
According to ‘Rádio Renascença’, one of the major highlights this year is the presence of the legendary Mão Morta, who will present an original project featuring never-before-seen collaborations.
Conan Osíris is another Portuguese talent set to perform at Serralves em Festa, alongside international acts such as Cybotron, You Origin, The Sabres of Paradise, and Barcelona Dame Area.
Art 11 meters high
In addition to the various musical performances, another highlight of Serralves em Festa is the show “Respire,” by the French company Les Filles du Renard Pâle.
What makes it special? The numbers speak for themselves: a 75-meter route, 11 meters high, accompanied by acrobatic performances and music.
“Tenet” is another large-scale acrobatic show highlighted in the public presentation of the program for the 20th edition of Serralves em Festa, as reported by ‘Rádio Renascença’ and other media outlets.
For the whole family

As in previous editions, Serralves em Festa features various activities dedicated to children and families, including themed shows and workshops such as:
- “Words in Their Place – Bicho Papelão” – a dynamic play about the importance of reading and books
- “A Cavalo, no Jardim” – a play by Sónia Baptista, inspired by cultural and literary references to the horse and its relationship with humans.
