Serralves em Luz returns on July 9 for its 4th edition, transforming Serralves Park into an immersive nighttime exhibition that combines art, nature, and technology. With tickets already on sale, the event runs through November 8, Wednesday through Sunday, and remains one of the most anticipated events of the summer in Porto. In previous editions, it was even named by the British newspaper The Times as one of the 10 best exhibitions to visit in Europe.
What is Serralves em Luz 2026?
With creative direction by Nuno Maya and production by the OCUBO studio, this edition takes on the theme “Light vs. Darkness,” exploring the dialogue between light and darkness along a brand-new 2-km route. There are 20 light art installations, created specifically for this event, that use multimedia, interactivity, and visual effects to transform the park’s landscape after dark.
What’s new: sound is incorporated into all the installations
For the first time, all installations feature their own original soundtracks. Seven leading Portuguese musicians— Francisco Rebelo, Gonçalo Garcia dos Santos, Inóspita, Maria João, Noiserv, Pedro Antunes, and Rodrigo Leão —have composed original pieces to accompany the exhibition, exploring the contrast between sound and silence as an extension of the very theme of light and darkness.
There is also a locally inspired installation: “O Meu Sol” (My Sun), created in collaboration with the Serralves Educational Service and three elementary school classes from Porto (Paulo da Gama, Pasteleira, and Condominhas). In a space that is initially dark, the “suns” drawn by the children gradually illuminate the environment throughout the visit.
Dates and times
The event runs from Wednesday through Sunday, between July 9 and November 8 (with a one-time closure on July 10). The tour’s start time changes throughout the season, in line with the decreasing daylight hours:
- July 9–August 10: starts at 10:00 p.m.
- August 11–31: starts at 9:30 p.m.
- September 1–14: starts at 9:00 p.m.
- September 15–October 5: starts at 8:30 p.m.
- October 6–November 8: starts at 8:00 p.m.
The visit lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes, with limited capacity per group. Given the large number of specific dates over the course of the five months, it’s best to check the exact schedule on the official website before planning your visit.

- Reduced-price ticket: €12 (children ages 4–11, students, seniors 65 and older, people with limited mobility)
- Serralves Family and Friends Ticket: €11 per person (valid for families of 2 adults + at least 1 child/teenager aged 4 to 17, or for Friends of Serralves)
- Children up to 3 years old (inclusive): freeadmission
