If you live in Porto, are a woman, and use Uber frequently, then there’s something new waiting for you: the arrival of the Women Drivers service in the city of Invicta.
As its name suggests, this new service allows Uber users to choose to travel exclusively with female drivers. But the news doesn’t stop there. Drivers also have the option of only accepting ride requests from female passengers.
Service expanding nationwide
According to a statement from Uber sent to Porto Secreto, after apilot phase in Lisbon, Women Drivers is currently available in several regions of mainland Portugal, in addition to the capital, such as the Algarve, Aveiro, Leiria, Braga, Coimbra, and now Porto.
Responding to a need and a challenge
With this new service, Uber aims to respond to a need identified by several female passengers and drivers, who feel more comfortable with this option for personalization.
In addition, Women Drivers aims to attract more women to the driving profession, as currently only 10% of TVDE professionals in the country are women, according to Uber data.
It should also be noted that this service will not represent an additional cost for users and is being rolled out gradually in Porto.
