Would you like to attend a concert inside a spinning mill, at a seaside fortress, or in an old chapel? Thanks to the “Sons no Património” festival, that’s actually possible. The 9th edition of the festival kicks off on September 18 and runs through November 22.
The music festival features 17 free concerts, covering the 17 municipalities that make up the Porto Metropolitan Area. The lineup brings together artists and projects from a wide variety of genres within contemporary Portuguese music. In addition to the concerts, there are also guided tours, walks, exhibitions, workshops, and culinary experiences associated with each stop on the festival’s route.
A way to experience the region through music
This edition also continues the “Sons no Património” Sound Map, a collective archive built around a single question posed to the 17 municipalities: “What is the sound of your homeland?” The idea is to bring together, in one place, the sounds that give each territory its identity, complementing the already rich lineup of concerts with an extra layer of collective sound memory.
