If you love sleeping in and staying under the covers until the very last minute, this news is for you: it won’t be long before summer (and its daylight hours) say goodbye until next year. And although fall arrives first, it’s the switch to standard time that brings us that much-desired extra hour of sleep.
When does standard time begin?

Standard time begins on the last Sunday in October, specifically in the early hours of October 24–25. In mainland Portugal and the Autonomous Region of Madeira, this means that at 2:00 a.m., the clock is set back one hour to 1:00 a.m. In the Autonomous Region of the Azores, however, the adjustment takes place at 1:00 a.m., setting the clock back to midnight .
What will change in Porto?

Essentially, the days start to get dark faster, and long outdoor walks to see the warm colors of dusk are no longer taken around dinnertime. Little by little, sunset comes earlier and earlier, but the city of Invicta will take on a charm all its own, with the golden hues of fall.
This is the perfect excuse to swap the outdoor terraces for some of Porto’s most charming and cozy cafés , order a hot chocolate, and enjoy the lights of Ribeira coming on earlier. Despite this, the truth is that this reality still seems a bit far off, since thermometers are showing high temperatures—at least for now!
