Looking for plans for the weekend? And are you a fan of vegetarianism and sustainability? Then this event is probably for you – from July 25 to 27, there will be another edition of the Matosinhos Vegetarian Gastronomic Festival.
For three days, all roads lead to Quinta da Conceição (a stunning municipal park where you can find the incredible swimming pool designed by Siza Vieira), in Leça da Palmeira (municipality of Matosinhos). The program covers all ages and the event is free to attend .

A brief look at the initiative
The Vegetarian Gastronomic Festival presents its biggest ever edition to the public in Greater Porto and beyond, with showcookings, lectures, concerts, masterclasses, yoga classes, activities for children and dozens of exhibitors.
Open to everyone, with extended opening hours and various options for lunch and dinner, the initiative is aimed not only at vegetarians, but also at anyone curious to find out more about cooking with plant-based ingredients.
With the nature of Quinta da Conceição as a backdrop and a program that extends to all ages, the festival’s mission is to uncomplicate healthy cooking and inspire more conscious choices for the body, the planet and the palate,” reads the press release sent to Porto Secreto.

Highlights of the Vegetarian Gastronomic Festival
July 25th (Friday)
Among the other activities planned are, for example:
- Showcooking of Tripas à Moda do Porto, in a vegan version, given by Catarina Chavinha (ProVeg Portugal)
- Presentation of a 100% vegan recipe : “Pastel sem bacalhau” and “Creme de marosca” (vegan version of seafood cream), by Bruna Simões (runner-up in MasterChef Portugal 2024)
- Golden Age Groove concert
July 26th (Saturday)
- Lecture “Vegetarian food at all stages of the life cycle”, with nutritionist Marcia Gonçalves
- Showcooking featuring a healthy, 100% plant-based version of grilled sardines and steaks: Tofurdinhas e Seitanas, with Maria de Melo
- Concert by Tiito, etc.
July 27th (Sunday)
- Masterclass led by Chef Emanuel Sávio, finalist of MasterChef Brasil
- Talk on plant-based food by Marta Ferreira, creator of the Martilicious project
- Showcooking dedicated to smothie bowls and homemade granola, by Regina Lima
- Concert by Estrela Gomes, among other activities planned.

The Matosinhos Vegetarian Gastronomic Festival is a free-access initiative, taking place at Quinta da Conceição (Leça da Palmeira), at the following times:
- July 25 (from 5pm to 9pm)
- July 26th (from 10am to 9pm)
- July 27th (from 10am to 8pm).
