This Tuesday, April 22, is World Earth Day. To mark the date, our team has decided to share some incredible photographs, curated by National Geographic.
Each of these images serves to remind us of the beauty of planet Earth. But do you know the origin of this date? According to the website Calendarr, it was created in 1970 by US Senator Gaylord Nelson. At the time, the idea came about after dealing with the consequences of an oil disaster that had occurred the previous year in the USA.
The senator made an effort to put the issue of preserving the planet on the political agenda, eventually leading to the creation of a specific date. The aim is to appeal to everyone’s conscience, alerting them to environmental problems and the need to protect the Earth.
Today, more than 190 countries celebrate World Earth Day.Let’s take a look at some photos to see how beautiful our surroundings are.
