Comum em países como a Islândia, a contemplação de uma aurora boreal em Portugal é sinónimo de raridade. Contudo, depois de um avistamento em maio deste ano, o fenómeno voltou a pintar de tons rosa os céus das regiões Norte e Centro, mas também do Alentejo.
O acontecimento foi registado, esta quinta-feira, dia 10 de outubro, por diversos utilizadores que partilharam imagens absolutamente impressionantes nas redes sociais, muitas das quais foram partilhadas através da página “Meteo Trás Os Montes”.
Segundo a SIC Notícias, que cita José Afonso, presidente da Sociedade Portuguesa de Academia, a origem do fenómeno deveu-se a uma tempestade eletromagnética de elevada intensidade. Além de Portugal, a aurora terá sido avistada em Espanha e no Reino Unido.
De acordo com a SIC Notícias, os especialistas indicam que há a possibilidade de o fenómeno se repetir esta noite. No entanto, as previsões de precipitação poderão dificultar a sua visibilidade.
