Coffee lovers have a great reason to stop by Rua de Sá da Bandeira on October 1 . A Brasileira Cafetaria, one of the cafés most closely tied to Porto’s history, is organizing two free events to celebrate International Coffee Day.
The café is teaming up with Flor da Selva, a Portuguese brand with a long tradition of coffee roasting, to transform the space into a gathering place for the curious and coffee lovers.
Two experiences to taste and learn

At 11:00 a.m., the coffee tasting offers a journey through coffees from various origins, with a focus on Brazil. The goal is to explore the aromas and characteristics of each one. Then, at 2:30 p.m., the “From Roasting to the Cup” session explains the roasting process and demonstrates how different grind sizes alter the aroma and flavor of the coffee. Admission is free.
In addition, throughout the day, both the café and the restaurant A Brasileira Bistrô will serve special offerings. The signature cocktail A Brasileira 1903, made with rum, coffee liqueur, anise syrup, and espresso, costs 12 euros. For dessert, the tiramisu with Taylor’s LBV 2020 costs 15 euros, and the chocolate and coffee mousse with Quevedo Colheita 2012 Branco costs 17 euros.
Over a century of history
Founded by Adriano Vale in the early 20th century, A Brasileira Cafetaria played a key role in introducing the custom of drinking coffee from a cup in the city. In the heart of Porto, the décor and various elements of the space continue to evoke the history of coffee and the ancient trade routes.
