Este ano, assinala-se o 50.º aniversário do 25 de Abril de 1974. Neste contexto, um pouco por toda a parte estão a ser preparados eventos especiais para celebrar a data. Mas, já imaginaste como era a vida antes do 25 de Abril, em Portugal?
Por exemplo, havia a Censura – um mecanismo político que exercia controlo direto sobre os meios jornalísticos, literários e culturais. Contudo, há outros aspetos que podem (e devem) ser mencionados. Por isso, reunimos num só artigo algumas curiosidades.
Seis coisas que não podiam ser feitas
1 – Rapazes para um lado e raparigas para outro
As crianças tinham de usar fardas e eram separadas por género. Não havia turmas mistas. E por vezes, as raparigas iam à escola na parte da manhã e os rapazes da parte da tarde.
2 – Não havia liberdade de expressão
Não se podia dizer mal do governo, nem dar a entender alguma opinião contrária, sob risco de ser preso pela PIDE.
Para além disso, tudo passava pelo rigoroso ‘lápis azul’ da censura e era comum livros, músicas, desenhos e notícias serem apreendidos por porem em causa a ordem pública.
3 – Não havia direito ao voto livre
Mais ainda, as mulheres só podiam votar se tivessem o ensino secundário.
4 – Enfermeiras, telefonistas e hospedeiras da TAP não se podiam casar
Também as professoras tinham de ter uma autorização especial. Já para saírem sozinhas do país, todas as mulheres casadas precisavam da autorização do marido.
5 – Não era permitida a discussão de ideias
Obviamente, também eram proibidas as associações ou reuniões de grupos de pessoas. Na sua génese, qualquer movimento que pudesse originar oposição ao governo não era permitido.
6 – Não era permitido festejar o Dia do Trabalhador
No ano de 1974, já depois da Revolução houve várias celebrações populares por todo o País. Só em Lisboa mais de um milhão de pessoas saíram à rua. O 1º de maio ganhou ainda mais importância, precisamente, porque não eram permitidas as celebrações durante a ditadura.
As restrições eram muitas mais. Por exemplo, não entrava Coca-Cola no País ou qualquer outra coisa estrangeira que não fosse validada pelo regime e que pudesse pôr em causa a sua autoridade.
Estes são apenas alguns exemplos. O que hoje tomamos como garantido e um direito, há uns anos não era sequer tema aberto a discussão. Daí a importância deste dia e o motivo pelo qual o devemos celebrar!
