For three days, from June 19 to 21 , the skies overPorto and Vila Nova de Gaia, along the Douro Riverfront, will serve as the backdrop for a major aviation and aerospace event: Air Invictus. With activities both in the air and on the ground, the event promises plenty of aerobatics, races, and even drone shows.
According to a press release from the organization sent to Porto Secreto, Air Invictus is much more than just a race. In total, 15 events are expected to take place across the cities of Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Maia, and Matosinhos.
Green light to move forward
After a stalemate, the Air Invictus festival now has the necessary authorization from the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) to move forward. According to the newspaper Público, which cites the Lusa news agency, this confirms that the first edition of the event will take place.
Magic in the air…

Air Invictus promises an unparalleled spectacle in the amphitheater between the Arrábida and Luís I bridges, with a veritable sea of people expected along the banks of the Douro to watch the aerial stunts and races.
In the air, the event program will take place in various formats, including Air Race, Air Show, Air Tattoo— featuring military and civilian demonstrations—and Air Drone.
And on the ground, too!
At Air Invictus, aerial displays take center stage—after all, the essence of the festival is reflected in its very name. However, that doesn’t mean ground-based activities have been overlooked. In fact, the program features a wide range of offerings away from the skies.
Exhibitions, DJ sets, and concerts are just some of the activities included in Air Invictus. However, so you don’t miss a thing, we’re sharing the full schedule with all the events covered by the air festival. In the end, all you have to do is pick your favorites.
