Total eclipse of the Sun illuminates Portugal’s skies in 2026

The phenomenal total eclipse of the Sun in 2026 promises to transform the Portuguese sky into a unique spectacle after more than a century of waiting.
For 26 seconds, day turns into night in the Montesinho Natural Park, where the phenomenon will be fully visible. Even those in Porto will be able to see more than 90% of the Sun hidden.
This rare alignment between the Earth, Moon and Sun requires careful observation, such as the use of certified solar filters, and will only happen again in Portugal in the distant year 2144.
