Thermal baths, saunas, massages, and wellness treatments inspired by the benefits of beer’s natural ingredients define the concept of the Beer Spa, the new relaxation space that has just opened in the heart of Porto. Located on the bustling Rua de Santa Catarina, the venue marks the Spanish brand’s official debut in Portugal.
The project was inspired by traditions from countries with a strong beer culture, such as the Czech Republic, where beer baths are nothing new. As such, the “promise” is simple: to promote wellness experiences based on the natural properties of malt, hops, and yeast— the “holy trinity” of beer production.
Balance between body and mind
Created in Spain by Juan Sánchez, Beer Spa already has seven locations in the neighboring country and is now beginning its expansion into Portugal with the opening of this facility in the city’s Baixa district.
What can you expect from the Beer Spa?
If you’re looking to enjoy unique and relaxing experiences without leaving Porto, the Beer Spa might be the perfect option. The facility spans 400 m², featuring a communal room that seats 14 people, two private rooms, and three treatment rooms—all designed with different types of visitors in mind.
If you don’t mind sharing the space with others, there are group sessions starting at 65€, which include a sauna, jacuzzi, and relaxation area. You can also enhance the experience with massages (between 82€ and 125€) and facial treatments (67€).
However, if you’re looking for an intimate experience without strangers around, you can always opt for the private rooms for two, with prices starting at 190€, which include an exclusive circuit featuring a jacuzzi, sauna, and relaxation area. Individual massages ( between 55€ and 85€) and facial and body treatments (starting at 47€) are also available.
In addition, the experience offers treatments, wellness, and relaxation, as well as the opportunity to sample beers (San Miguel is an official partner) and enjoy a selection of appetizers, including the brand’s own intriguing beer jam. And since details matter, the baths include cinnamon to add aromatic notes to the session.
