The prize was awarded as part of the World Culinary Awards, the ‘little brother’ of the World Travel Awards (known as the ‘Oscars of Tourism’). The ceremony took place in Dubai, where Invicta left behind cities such as Berlin (Germany), Cannes (France) and Dubrovnik (Croatia), among others.
The choice of Porto confirms the tourist, cultural and gastronomic richness of the Porto and North region, a destination capable of attracting both ‘gourmets’ and travellers in search of culture and authenticity,” says the organization, quoted in a press release from Porto City Hall.
It should be noted that this news comes shortly after it was announced that Porto will host the second Michelin Guide Portugal gala in February 2025. In this sense, it’s fair to say that Porto’s gastronomy is really on a roll.
As for the World Culinary Awards themselves, it’s worth mentioning that this year marked their 5th edition, and their aim is to distinguish the best in culinary culture. In addition to the distinction awarded to Invicta, Lisbon was also chosen as the Best Culinary Destination in Europe.
