We’re already counting down to the arrival of spring, right? Yes, it is! The most beautiful season of the year officially begins on Thursday, March 20th. So if you want to celebrate the date among splendid flowers, you should know that there’s a new camellia exhibition coming up.
This time, we’re not talking about the traditional event in Porto, but the 4th edition of the Camellia Exhibition in the City of Maia. Free of charge, the initiative will take place on March 22 and 23, Saturday and Sunday respectively, at the Príncipe da Beira School.
The event is organized by the City of Maia Parish Council, with the support of the Portuguese Camellia Association, and aims to promote the biological and cultural heritage of the Maia area, one of the 17 municipalities that make up the Porto Metropolitan Area.
Exhibition with species over 200 years old
According to Notícias da Maia, the camellia exhibition features species with more than 200 years of history, including the Camélia Angelina Vieira.
This species has a rare purple hue and was created by Germano Vieira from Maia.
