O ‘dear august’ promises many events, both for fans of astronomical phenomena as well as for water sports enthusiasts. If you’re one of those people who can’t stand to be away from water, then you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a mega water slide waiting for you near Porto.
On August 10 and 11 (Saturday and Sunday, respectively), São Mamede de Infesta, in the municipality of Matosinhos will become a kind of open-air water park. Best of all, access to this initiative is free.
After going through Penafiel and São Pedro da Cova (in Gondomar), Water Slide Summer is back in Greater Porto. More specifically, kids and adults will be able to enjoy the giant slide, which will be installed on the descent between the Rotunda das Laranjeiras and the Rotunda da Henrique Bravo.
Although access is free, there is a condition for ‘diving’ down the 300m slide. In other words, to slide down at will you need to take a buoy with you, or buy one on site.
The slide has two lanes, but it’s not the only attraction. The program also includes a swimming pool for children and giant inflatables, as well as a kidzone and musical entertainment by DJs.
This is an initiative for the whole family by Matosinhos City Council, in partnership with the São Mamede de Infesta and Senhora da Hora Parish Council, as part of International Youth Day.
