Invicta continues to ‘shine’ across borders. After sharing the distinctions of “Europe’s Best Emerging Gastronomic Destination” and “Best Metropolitan Seaside Destination”, Porto is now in the top 100 of the world’s best cities for 2025.
The analysis is carried out annually by Resonance Consultancy and places Porto in 82nd place, just after Nagoya (Japan) and ahead of Perth (Australia). Along with Invicta, there is another city on this international list, namely Lisbon, which comes in 57th place.

How are the best cities in the world determined?
Resonance Consultancy evaluates various parameters related to quality of life, culture, work, travel and investment. In this scenario, some of the world’s leading cities with a metropolitan area of more than 1 million people, such as Porto, are considered.
According to the report (available for consultation here), the final ranking is the result of a combination of statistics and user-generated data from online platforms such as Google, TripAdvisor and Instagram, among others.
3 fundamental pillars
This year, the previous categories (Place, Promotion, Product, Program, People and Prosperity) have been regrouped into three fundamental pillars:
- Livability – which includes parameters such as the value of rents, the health system, public transport, the possibility of cycling, etc;
- Friendliness – restaurants, culture, shopping, tourist attractions, etc;
- Prosperity – unemployment rate, flight connections, business, etc.
What do people say about Porto?
Porto is highlighted as “the king of the North”, appearing in 10th place with regard to the quality of cycle paths ( and/or the ability to cycle); and in 33rd place in the health system index.
The report mentions the attraction of real estate investors in the city, as well as the increase in air connections from all over Europe that bring many tourists, who often outnumber the locals in Baixa.
Despite the aforementioned challenges associated with the real estate sector, Resonance Consultancy extols the beauty of the city and beyond:
With its colorful old town hugging the banks of the Douro and crowned by Gustave Eiffel’s wrought iron bridge, unfinished enough to remind you that this was the industrial heart of Portugal for centuries.”
