São João is synonymous with balloon launching and, of course, basisl, or like we say in Portuguese ‘manjericos’. As has been the case for the last ten years, a hanging garden of basil can be visited right in front of the Porto City Hall (CMP) building.
From June 19 to 22 (Saturday), the art installation will breathe new life into the heart of the city, with a total of 900 ‘manjericos’, donated by the Horto Municipal do Porto. The hanging garden, on the other hand, belongs to the architecture studio FAHR 021.3
According to information on Ágora’s website, “Flores de Manjerico” is the name given to this art installation, which is made up of:
Two large pieces, arranged in a V-shape, with a path drawn in the middle, which allows you to ‘stroll’ through this green blanket,” reads Ágora’s official website.
Would you like a basil?
According to the same source, on June 23rd (Sunday), the manjericos will be offered to the local’s and not only by the president of the CMP, Rui Moreira.
