Have you ever heard of Porto’s Old Industrial Slaughterhouse? The building, which is currently being refurbished, opens its doors to the public this weekend with a series of activities that are free of charge but limited to the existing capacity.
According to a press release sent to Porto Secreto, “Open Day: Matadouro – Centro Cultural do Porto” takes place on September 13 (Saturday), between 11am and 8pm, with a brief extension on Sunday, starting at 5pm.
The program starts with visits to the cultural spaces, between 11am and 4.30pm, with access on a first-come, first-served basis. After that, at 5pm, the public presentation of Matadouro – Centro Cultural do Porto is scheduled.
However, the program for September 13 doesn’t stop there. At 5.30pm, the exhibition “Gustavo Ludgero: four decades of work” will open. This exhibition brings together more than 100 works by the artist, including sculptures that have never been shown before.
To round off the evening, “Open Day: Matadouro – Centro Cultural do Porto” will feature DJ João Semedo. On Sunday, September 14, Gustavo Ludgero will ‘command’ a commented visit to his exhibition, installed in the garage of the former Matadouro.
Other useful information
Please note that participation in the activities is free, but subject to space limitations. It should also be noted that, for construction reasons, children under the age of 15 are not allowed to enter and that closed shoes must be worn.
