Although Porto is full of gardens that invite you to take long walks outdoors, especially in spring with the tulips and magnolias in bloom, we often want to bring some of that greenery into our homes with plants.
To turn your home into a little haven, you first need to choose the most suitable plants. That’s why we’ve put together a short list of some species that need little light and/or indirect light. Best of all, they’re easy to look after.
Peperomia
Easy to maintain, this plant is ideal in tall or hanging pots, so it’s a choice to take into account in any decor.
Peperomia doesn’t need a lot of water or direct light, preferring soft environments and semi-shady places.
Calathea
Of exotic origin, the Calathea doesn’t like too much water or direct sunlight, so it’s a good choice for inside an apartment.
Although it doesn ‘t need a lot of light, pay attention because you shouldn’t leave it in semi-darkness or the leaf pattern may disappear.
Sansevieria
Sansevieria, known as St. George’s Sword or ‘envy plant’, is one of the most resistant and flexible plants in existence.
It can thrive in both bright and dark environments, making it ideal for any part of the house.
It is also a plant that purifies the air, contributing to a healthier environment.
Aglaonema
Aglaonema doesn’t like direct sunlight, so it does best in spaces such as the bathroom or kitchen, where there is little light.
It’s also one of those plants that prefers little water. Due to its large, showy leaves, it is often used to decorate offices and shopping centers, but it will look even better in your home!
Zamioculcas
Known as the ZZ plant or lucky plant, it is very hardy, withstanding (almost) all the mistakes of beginners, from lack of watering to too little sun.
That’s why it’s a natural choice for decorating interiors and dimly lit environments.
With each of these plants, you can easily turn your home into a cozy little green haven, even in dimly lit spaces. Try bringing a bit of natural beauty into your four walls and enjoy the benefits for your own well-being!
